Game Summary: If only the Times Leader was accurate when the top section of the Saturday morning front page showed WA winning this game 39-35... The Warriors started this game clicking on all cylinders. Chris Murphy initiated the scoring with a 5 yard TD run. Murphy then hit Kody Nowicki on a 43 yard pass play in the middle of the first quarter. Nick O'Brien then scored on a 10 yard run and finally Chris Murphy returned a fumble recovery for 41 yards to make the score 26-0 at the end of the first quarter. The defense was playing well and it looked like the Warriors were finally playing the way we thought they could...but not so fast.

The Warriors gave up a TD and the offense sputtered in the second quarter making the game 26-7 at halftime. Perhaps the play that brought Lake Lehman back to life starting out the third quarter was a pass interception on the Warrior's first series. O'Brien circled out of the backfield down the Warrior sidelines. He was covered by two defenders and Lake Lehman had an easy pick. They went in for a score and the Black Knights were in business. For the rest of the night, the Warrior defense became pourous as Lake Lehman took over the game in the third quarter. A 66 yard punt return gave the Black Knights the lead and all of a suddent the Warriors were down by 9 points midway through the fourth quarter.

A Chris Murphy to Eric Eramo 31 yard pass on 4th and 12 from midfield gave the Warriors some hope of a comeback. This hope was bolstered by a beautiful 16 yard touchdown pass from Murphy to Nowicki with 3:21 left. On the ensuing kickoff, Lake Lehman put everyone up front preparing for the on side kick. Katie Scalzo, instead, kicked the ball over the heads of the Knights' back line of the kickoff receiving team, and Cody Schmitz recovered the ball on the 11 yard line. Two plays later, Nick O'Brien ran 9 yards for the score, giving the Warriors a 39-35 lead with 2:33 to play.

The Black Knights then took the ball and moved it down field as the arrior Defense had no gas left in the tank. With seconds remaining, the Knights moved the ball down to the goal line. The Warriors were able to stop them once from the one foot line, but finally, the Knights scored with 6 seconds left to secure the 42-39 victory. It was a tough losst.

Next Week: Hanover. The Hawkeyes are 2-1 and are led by running back Andrew Forgatch who is coming off a 100 yard performance against Mid-Valley. Hanover likes to pound the ball but also can also pass. They had 228 yards of passing on a 6 for 9 passing performance by quaterback Joe Ksiazkiewicz. 51 of those yards came on a TD screen pass to receiver Josh Cabrera.
